geek Yahoo Mail
Another step by step.. yet again with pics, but this time we're showing you how to insert the Yahoo smileys into your Yahoo email messages.. the smiley craze continues ;-)

NOTE: Netscape users will find this feature isn't available! It's a "browser thing" but we have found away around that for you.. it's not perfect but it works :-) you can access your "how to" at [Yahoo Mail for Netscape Users]
EOB..

For those of you with a @yahoo.com email addy as you'll see this feature

but for some who have a @yahoo.co.somethingelse addys you might find this feature missing :-\ Dave Mannifield dropped us a line to let us know the .co.uk has since been updated.. thanks :-)

right if you've got the @yahoo.com email addy then login to your account as per the norm or via [Yahoo Mail]

Once inside the main window..
select Compose from the Navigation menu ..

It should now be looking similar to above :-)

if you don't see the Control Menu as detailed below with the Smiley

then you need to switch from Plain Version...

to the Formatted Version...

Now there's nothing stopping you :-)
Start typing away...
when you want to insert a graphic simply
hit the Smiley on the Control Menu
then select from the drop down list..(by the way mine dropped up so don't be surprised ;-)

TaDa!

All done :-)

To the die hard smileys users you'd have noticed that the drop up ;-) menu is different to the one on Yahoo Messenger..

Comparing the two side by side..(Yahoo Messenger dropdown to the left... Yahoo Mail to the right

20 on the std menu and 25 on the Email version.. the secret ones are on there.. well almost all the secret ones... so what's missing? The skull!

NOTE: as submitted by Rae thank you :-)
OK, so here's a new "hidden" Yahoo feature/smiley for you. Let's compose a letter and insert the clown smiley in our message. Now check the 'view HTML source" box and you will find that the clown smiley has been turned into this line of text:
<IMG src="http: //us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com /i/mesg/tsmileys/y.gif">

At the very end of the line, change the 'y.gif' to 'S.gif' , now uncheck the 'view HTML source' box, and viola! There's your skull smiley!
Yours
Ray
