Sound Events in Windows
Sound events in windows are quite cool.. but after a while you'll be screaming
for more.. why? Because they are so addictive!
Sound Events are things like Close Program, Critical Stop, Start Windows, Exit
Windows etc (a listing of Std sound events has been posted further down on this
page) and assigning sounds to these events can be a lot of fun. You either use
predefined sound schemes like Windows Default, Jungle, Musica, Robotz or Utopia
or you can download and select individual sounds for each event in the list..
if you have a great sense of humour then you'll have an absolute ball with this
;-)
To Access Sound Events...
doubleclick My Computer,
Control Panel, and then the Sounds
and Multimedia Icon. When the Sounds and Mulitmedia Properites
Window opens it should look like the graphic to the left... nice,
simple and straight forward.
To select a wav for an event simply click once on the name of the event, then
from the Name drop down menu select a sound file (to hear the assigned sound
hit the black arrow to the right of the sound file Name) or you can browse to
locate more files stored on your computer.. now the neat thing about browse
is that you can test drive the file first by hitting the Preview button in the
Open dialog box. Once you have decided on the wav you want to use hit Ok, you'll
be taken back to the Properties box where you can head to the next event.. on
and on it gets.. once finished don't forget to name the Scheme you've created
and hit Save as...

Note:
Subkeys in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER AppEvents
Contains paths to sound files that are loaded for specific system events (for
example, when an error message occurs).
