After my Gravatar ramblings Simon got in touch to let me know that while the Gravatar 0.2.1 extension by Daniel W. Steinbrook no longer worked with Thunderbird v1.5.0.5 there was one that did... Message Faces 1.1 by Jens Bannmann so I trotted along to check it out.
Downloading extensions for Thunderbird is a little different to Firefox, Thunderbird requires a hands on approach with a manual install whereas Firefox tends to do it all for you, you just hit Install Now and it does exactly that. With Thunderbird you right click Install Now, then select Save Target as, spring open Thunderbird then hit Tools > Extensions > Install, work your way to the download location, select the .xpi file then hit Install... it sounds long and windy I know but it's just how it is ![]()
So I grabbed Message Faces 1.1, manually installed messagefaces-1.1-tb.xpi then headed to Tools > Extension Options > Message Faces...
I had a wee poke around the options, it's cool that if you don't want, or don't have a Gravatar, you can upload an image from your computer, for me personally though my mission was to check out the Gravatar support, so I selected that as my option hit OK and then wondered what else I was meant to do... the short of the long is simply nothing ![]()
I fired off an email to one of my... numerous
... email accounts, and used Thunderbird to collect it.. sure enough there was my Gravatar
Then I wondered if anyone not using Thunderbird could actually see it, so I shot of an email to my GMail account.. email arrived but no Gravatar.. hmm.. seems it's not supported there. Next was my Yahoo! Mail account... email arrived.. nupe.. no Gravatar...hmm... Mail on my Mac.. nupe.. Thunderbird on my Mac... nupe.. Message Faces installed on Thunderbird on my Mac... nupe...Thunderbird Mac to Thunderbird Windows... nupe... *cough*
I'm picking I broke it.. or I'm missing something.. any clues would be appreciated ![]()
