geek Collecting Hotmail in Outlook Express
So you've got yourself a hotmail account and your running Outlook Express... now you wish to combine the two. Launch Outlook Express
from the control menu hit Tools
select Accounts
from the Internet Accounts window hit the Mail tab
select Add
select Mail
outlook express Add Mail tool you'll be presented with the Internet Connection wizard which the following steps will guide you through...
Step 1- Name...
in display name enter the name which you'd like to be known by...
enter the name you'd like to display
hit next
Step 2 - Internet Email Address...
select the radio button beside I Already have an email address that I'd like to use..
enter your full hotmail address including the @hotmail.com
hit next
Step 3 - Email Server Names...
the wizard detects your using an hotmail account and loads the default settings...

leave these as they are
hit next
Step 4 - Internet Mail Login...
for Account Name enter your full email address including the @hotmail.com details
for Password enter your exact password as if you were normally logging in to your hotmail account via the web
if you'd like to check automatically for your mail put a check mark in the box beside Remember Password, if not clear the check
hit next
Step 5 - Congratulations...
exactly that! all done and well done :-)
now just hit Finish

if your view is set to Folder List you'll notice a hotmail tag will be created beneath your drafts folder

when you presented with the Internet Accounts window hit close
an Outlook Express dialog box will pop up (don't panic you haven't done anything wrong!) asking if you'd like to go online to download mail folders
download mail folders
hit OK
and a list of folders will now appear...
complete list of hotmail folders created

Now you can use your hotmail straight from inside Outlook Express :-)
