geek Blogg-X

Blogg-X by iobinary.comone of things I struggle with the most when it comes to using Joomla is the ability to update the site... ease of access and the time involved were, and are, the two things that escape me. Having to log in to the admin panel and then work my way through to the content, select the article or static content, associate the menu etc etc, it all just drives me potty. After a fair amount of time spent blogging and using w.blogger which allows for offline (and offsite) composition I knew I wanted exactly the same thing.. but for Joomla, so I set out on a mission.

I spent months looking for something similar, I searched high and low, I was even contemplating returning to Mambo if they had a 3rd party application that would allow easy updating... but find I didn't, not for Joomla or Mambo... until one day quite by chance, and not a clue how, I stumbled across Blogg-X @ iobinary.com (you always find what you're looking for when you're not looking.. life... you gotta love it ;)

The really cool thing about Blogg-X is that it not only does exactly what it sets out.. but it does it so dang well! Blogg-X is still in beta, at the moment Chris has released version 0.85 (beta), it came out the door 15 Feb 06 and it comes in two flavours... one for Windows and one for Mac! I was so excited I nearly... well I nearly spat my coffee! My near perfect find was suddenly completely perfect as I could now update the sites with ease and in very tight situations from not only my Windows PC's but also from my Mac... heaven!

Getting Blogg-X up and running is a walk in the park, the Installation Instructions are a breeze to follow, simply install Blogg-X, enter your site information, upload and publish the mambot and you're away.

Blogg-X also has a support forum, I've popped in a couple of times and posted just a handful, but talk about impressed. Chris is right on the ball and I swing between feeling so inspired by his enthusiasm to feeling incredibly sorry for him as his work load must be huge and his free time practically zip. At the moment I'm unable to use Blogg-X with bee.geek.nz as I have apostrophes in my Category titles which might be addressed in the next Blogg-X version, but I'm happily using it to fine tune and fiddle with WackyB.co.nz and it works a treat, I couldn't be happier :)
