The following Tips n Tricks all work with Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 but you'll find that some of them will also work with other versions. Hit the "Tip" you want and you'll be transported to that particular section of this page....

Select View
Current View
Select Hide Read Messages

Hit Ctrl+Shft+A
Note: If you have trouble with holding 2 or more keys down at the same time go to

Select the messages you want to mark as read/or delete
(click the message again to deselect)
Release the Ctrl Key
Right Click a highlighted Message
Select Mark as Read/or Delete
Select OK

Click Tools
Select Options
Select the Preferences Tab
Uncheck Run this Program when Windows Starts
Hit OK

Double Click Control Panel
Double Click Add/Remove Programs
Select the Windows Setup tab
Select Communications
Click Details
Uncheck MSN Messenger Service
Hit OK

[back to OE Tips] OE6. Quick Email If you're like me you'll have a few people that you email to regularly...you start up outlook, click new message, type address...blah blick!...same old same old. Here's how to create a shortcut which with one click will automatically start up a new message with the address already inserted...very handy :-)
Right Click a blank area on your desktop
Select New
Select Shortcut
Create Shortcut dialog box will open
In the Command Line type mailto:
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
(using the address of your friend of course!)
Hit Next (or use the enter button on your keyboard)
the Select a Title for the Program dialog box appears
type in the name of person
Hit Finish
Ta Da! a shortcut is now on your desktop! It doesn't have to stay there though, you can drag it to your Quick Launch bar or to Start Menu...nice hey?
