Each year I make a list of all the things I want to do / experience / own, e.g. in 2008 I mastered the Pavlova, in 2009 it was bacon and chocolate, this year it's cooking duck (yet to be ticked off) and numerous other to-do's, one of which is, or rather was, is... "learn to crochet"... which I have and am slowly learning to do... woohoo me!
I made my first crochet hat which my daughter now owns (couldn't have been as bad as I thought) and my second came off the hook on 17th July, since then I've stumbled around trying to master other stitches (thank the gods for YouTube.com: Learn to Crochet, as I'm a "must see" learner not a "must read" learner) but now I'm starting to run before adequately walking as I've fallen in love with, and set my sights on, learning to make (or acquire ;) Nurse Jackie's scarf....
From season two, episode 9 & 10 which screened here (in NZ) last night (and loved as always), in a quest to find out how to, or rather where to start, with crocheting the scarf, I nabbed the following screen shots...

I'm hoping these will help in my quest to work out the overall look and the approximate length...

the stitch...

the basic construction and how the actual "flowers" / granny squares (?) are stitched in, or applied...

There is some information available via Google: Nurse Jackie's Scarf, success has been posted on Flickr: Nurse Jackie scarf - done! and there is even, or rather of course, a Facebook page: Jackie's Scarf but being the basic brained person that I am I need to find my own way of pulling this one together... if all else fails I'll be hunting down my wee pal patches for a guiding hand.. or just a giggle ;)
btw: if you have a beginners pattern for it, don't hesitate to let me know... or even better, a YouTube video ;)
UPDATE: see creative scarf license 3rd September 2010
