Earlier this year I made the switch from Eudora to Gmail [big mistake] and now I’m slowly sharing the email management with Postbox which has certainly started off on the right foot.

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing though as one of the major issues I initially had with Postbox was the dictionary, it only has one and it’s English (US)… argh! For those of us who are accustomed to English (British) you will understand my immense frustration and with the language issue bordering on being deal breaker I hit the PostBox community forum.

After poking around a few threads that dealt with possible Windows and Mac solutions I managed to put together a combination that worked for me, using PostBox v1.0b12 for Windows, on Vista, seeking a British English Dictionary (Australian is also an option).

1. Download the British English Dictionary 1.19 by Mark Tyndall

2. the downloaded file will be british_english_dictionary-1.19-fx+zm+tb.xpi (245KB)

3. rename this to british_english_dictionary-1.19-fx+zm+tb.zip

4. Decompress the files, open the Dictionaries folder

5. Copy en-GB.aff and en-GB.dic

6. Paste to C:\Program Files\Postbox\dictionaries

7. Restart Postbox
