geek I get really quite stroppy about the little things...

Saving your Desktop Layout... but other things don't bother me in the slightest © Mazeguy ... like my desk looking like the contents of an upended waste paper basket 90% of the time or that my coffee cup can containing a wide variety of blended serves as more often than not I'll leave the wee bit in the bottom and throw the fresh batch on top © Mazeguy but then other things really yank my chain.. little things © Mazeguy... like my iTunes playlists, they must be perfect and songs in the exact order I want them to be... and my iPod.. it too must exactly mirror my iTunes setup.. and my desktop icons... they must be exactly where I want them.. not a smidgen to the left or right, not in "close enough" order.. they must be in the correct grouping all the time... it's a guaranteed sure bet that I will completely loose my rag when for any reason they have been reshuffled or bumped out of order.. one sure fire way of causing a desktop disaster was whenever I used my lap top to remote desktop to my main computer.. every single gawd dang time I'd go back to my main computer all my icons had shirt themselves by wrapping top to bottom or left to right and 100% of the time the right hand block had been shoved into the middle of my screen © Mazeguy...

Save your desktop layout... now without doubt if I connected each time with the exact same resolution it wouldn't have been an issue.. but the resolution of my laptop (which is a widescreen) is completely different to my main computer so it was never going work © Mazeguy ... then Andy came to screaming to my rescue with Saving the desktop layout in W2K © Mazeguy

All you have to do is download the wee (5kb) file, unzip it, inside is two files... a .dll and a .reg file. Throw the .dll into your system32 directory, then right click and merge the .reg file... all done © Mazeguy Now just head to your My Computer icon, right click and select Save Desktop Icon Layout... then if for any reason (like remote desktop) you find your desktop icons have gone and shirt their order and layout just head back to your My Computer icon, right click and select Restore Desktop Icon Layout... it's as simple as that! It's brilliant! It's perfect! I'm in heaven © Mazeguy
