malt bread gives you a licence to pig out on butter...
as does date muffins......flickr gives you a license...and once you've started... a reason... to skive off work 
I'd seen flickr around before, in fact a couple of times I nearly signed up, I'd also seem the flickr badges which I thought were rather cool... then the other day... while still recovering from my bad computer day... I decided to close down all my apps, kill off everything "work related" then spring open firefox and head off to check out flickr properly... oh it's soooo cool!
I love taking photos, I love the whole experience 
... getting away, hitting the ground, plonking with the settings, the lighting etc... yada yada... I love it so much that I have my own personal website... yes another..... for this area of my life, but lately I've sucked when it comes to taking time out... let alone taking photos... let alone keeping that domain up-to-date... time is a constant issue... then when I do have the time getting my bum into gear is a mission... making sure the gallery software is up-to-date is a real chore... making sure it's running a theme a like... that it suits me and my mood at the time... is near impossible as I'm as fickle as a dust bunny 
... basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm no different to a plumber with leaky pipes at home.... but then along comes flickr....
flickr offers some really great twiddly bits, you can get your own personalised link (like http://www.flickr.com/photos/coffee_bee/), the tools section is pretty cool also, in there I grabbed the Flickr Uploadr for Windows XP and also Flickr Uploadr for Mac OS X... I think it's fab how they have catered to both platforms 
the uploaders are well worth the minimal download as it means you don't have to upload the images via your browser... which saves heeeeeaps of time 
you can also grab funky little badges for your websites that you can customize to suit...

While flickr wont ever replace my personal corner of the net, it's a pretty dang fine stopgap that I'm sure my lazy bum will be using from time to time.. if only to store my the photos I seem to be constantly taking with my mobile phones... ahh bliss 
... because while I have a passion for photos that require time, effort, plonking, thought and a dash of vision... I also love of little, quirky, grainy, out of focus snaps... the ones that state the obvious, the not so obvious... the strange, the bizarre, the weird... just random phone photos that one day can be perfectly clear and the next look like you were standing in a sand storm with your britches covering the lens.. and too me flickr is going to be perfect for this as all the upgrading, updating, template, look, feel etc is completely out of my hands... the responsibility belongs to someone else... perfect!
