still loving Polaroid

I know they are "dead" but I still love Polaroids, and just as passionately as I did when the first signs of their extinction started to surface. The love affair continued even when their fate was officially sealed on 18th February 2008 Polaroid via an official press release Polaroid Reinvents Instant Photos with New Digital Technology ... quite simply because I still held out hope.

I wasn't alone in this hope as shortly after the death of instant film was announced up popped savepolaroid.com which as the name suggests is a website dedicated to saving instant film...

savepolaroid.com has some practical suggestions for how end users can help save the Polaroid, everything from writing to film companies, shooting film, signing petitions, putting up posters in camera outlets to downloading an action pack.

If you're a diehard users and believer in the cause then head along to their flickr group savepolaroid where you can post your own polaroid as a show of support...

If you're looking to offer support on a much bigger scale then trott along to the-impossible-project.com...

I'm in two minds, yes I'd love the see the good old instant film spring back to life, but I'd also like to see the Polaroid PoGo™ has to offer. Polaroid's 9th January 2009 press release Polaroid Introduces the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera states the new camear will be available in the US from March 2009.. as per the norm, there is no news when it will NZ but I'm not holding my breath as the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer which was released in the US June 2008 is yet to make a show here.
