Computer Keyboard
The standard keyboard has approx 101 keys which usually includes the keys as detailed below. These keys were originally intended for the means described but have since changed over the years with some programs ignoring the key request completely and others recognising the commands so it will be matter of trial and error to see which works with what...

Winkey Windows Key ÿ) used to access the Start Menu commands such as Winkey+R (Opens Run command) if you don't have a windows key then try using Ctrl+Esc as this will generally launch the Start Menu

Esc (Escape) move you up a level, escape from a program or cancel the last command you used.. eg Refresh/Reload

Often you'll find that Print Scrn and SysRq share the same key..
Print Scrn (Print Screen) either send the document currently being viewed to the printer or copies the current screen image to the clipboard for editing.. commonly known as a Screenshot

Scroll Lock used to keep your screen from scrolling and/or when engaged the arrow keys become used for scrolling instead.

Pause and Break
will often share the same key... both have a similar command in that they stop the current action/communication though this key was generally used when working in DOS..as with the SysRq (System Request) key

Shift while generally used to insert a capital letter (uppercase) or punctuation marks it's also used the same way as your Alt (Alternate) Ctrl (Control) that being to peform general keyboard shortcuts. Shift, Ctrl and Alt can all be used in conjunction with another key such as Shift+TAB (Move to previous field) Ctrl+C (Copy) Alt+S (Send a Message) or combined to peform a specific task Ctrl+Shift+S (Insert Signature)
Note: Alt and Ctrl are only used in combinations with other keys.

Num Lock (Number Lock) gives you the option of using your numeric keys as numbers or navigation commands

1 - End Moves the cursor to the end of the document
2 - down arrow â
3 - PgDn (Page Down) Moves the cursor down a page length
4 - left arrow ß
5 -
6 - right arrow à
7 - Home Moves the cursor to the beginning of the document
8 - up arrow á
9 - PgUp (Page Up) Moves the cursor up a page length
0 - Ins (Insert) Used for inserting text generally in word processor documents
. - Del (Delete) Used for deleting text

F1-10 or F1-12 (Function) will preform a specific function like launch Help, Refresh/Reload the screen.

Even the keys often refered to squiggles, dots and curved things have names..
