[back to IE Tips] IE14. Quickly restoring a lost Dial up connectionSubmitted by Steve-eOpen Outlook Express and then open Internet Explorer, so that there are separate windows for each. If the connection is lost ( modem hangs or disconnects ) if the modem has hung, right click and tell it to disconnect and then simply maximize the Outlook window and click send/receive. Outlook detects that there is no connection and restores it without relaunching IE or OE, and your browser ( IE ) does not lose the page you were on.
[back to IE Tips] IE15. Resuming an interrupted file download Submitted by Steve-eHave you ever been downloading a large file only to lose your connection/download. If you are using the tip above, you can resume the download as follows:
Do not close the IE ( browser ) window. Just minimize the download status box. Maximize the outlook window and restore the connection by clicking send/recieve as in tip 1 above. When the connection is restored, maximize the IE window that contains the link to the file you were downloading, right click the link again and click "save as." The download status window will pop up and IE will "usually" resume the download where it left off.
